How can I travel with the RENZ Outbound Program?

RENZ works with partner organisations worldwide to provide paid work experiences for young New Zealanders in agriculture, agronomy, horticulture, winery, equine and even building/trade fields. Each country has different eligibility criteria.

Experience America with RENZ

The opportunities are endless and can include working and studying at an American university for a semester, harvest run across America, working alongside some of the best horse trainers in the country, or even voluntary work in Florida with Marine animals.

Am I Eligible - To Participate as a Trainee?

  • Be between the ages of 18-28 when your program begins (Enology programme between the ages of 21-35)

  • Have an agriculture degree or professional certificate from a
    post-secondary academic institution or a certificate from a nationally
    recognized accredited agency and at least one year of prior applicable
    work experience in your occupational field outside of America
    OR

  • Have five years of agriculture work experience outside of America
    in the occupational field in which you are seeking training

  • Hold a valid New Zealand Passport

Am I Eligible - To Participate as an Intern?

  • Be between the ages of 18-28 when your program begins (Enology programme between the ages of 21-35)

  • Be currently enrolled in and pursuing studies at an agriculture degree-
    or certificate-granting post-secondary academic or nationally recognised
    accredited institution outside of America
    OR

  • You have graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months
    before their program start date

  • Hold a valid New Zealand Passport

America Placement Opportunities!

  • Equine - Year-round placements

  • Enology - Mid-August to mid-December, depending on climate and location.

  • Viticulture - April to December, depending on location.

  • Dairy Farming - Year-round placements

  • Custom Harvesting - April to November

  • Field Crops - March/April to November -December

  • Swine - Year-round placements

  • Cattle Management/Ranching - Year-round placements

  • Bee Keeping - Year-round placements

  • Agricultural Cooperative Operations Technicians - Placements start in Jan/February or July/August

  • Vegetable Production - March to July, ending in October

  • Orchard and Fruit Production - March to June, ending in October

  • Turf Management - February to October

  • Landscaping - April to October

  • Construction - Year-round placements

Experience Canada with RENZ

We work closely with International Rural Exchange Canada (IREC), which offers an incredible exchange for young trainees to gain international experiences. Most of the host families are located in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

RENZ Placements Get:

  • Assistance when necessary

Am I Eligible?

  • You must be between 18-35 years

  • Have two years of practical experience

  • Valid New Zealand passport

  • Valid driver's licence

  • Able to pass a criminal record test

  • Crop Farms prefers an early April arrival and November departure. Livestock and dairy placements vary throughout the year. Please apply at least four months in advance.

Working closely with our European partners, we can offer countless working opportunities! Learn by doing, immerse yourself in the rich European culture. Don't worry, English is spoken on all farms!
